HOYEON
South Korean model-turned-actor Hoyeon received international
recognition and critical acclaim after the global success of the Netflix
original series, Squid Game, in which she played Kang Sae-byeok, also
known as Player 067. Within weeks of the show’s release, she racked up millions
of Instagram followers and soon became the most-followed Korean actress on the
social platform. For her breakout performance on the show, Hoyeon won the
Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama
Series and she was nominated along with her costars for the Screen Actors Guild
Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. She also
received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama
Series.
Hoyeon was most recently seen in Alfonso Cuaron’s psychological
thriller series Disclaimer for Apple TV+, starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin
Kline. She
will next appear in the Korean film Hope, directed by
the acclaimed Na Hong-Jin, and is currently filming The Hole,
directed by Kim Jee-woon, in which she stars opposite Theo James.
Originally from Seoul, Hoyeon began her modeling career in 2011.
She competed on the fourth season of Korea's Next Top Model and placed
as a runner-up. Her big break came in 2016 when she landed an exclusive global
contract with Louis Vuitton. Since then, she has starred in campaigns and
walked the runway for top designers like Chanel, Fendi, Miu Miu, Marc Jacobs,
and Moschino to name a few. She has also been featured in numerous fashion
magazines, including international editions of Vogue, ELLE, Harper's
Bazaar, W, and V.
In February 2022, Hoyeon made history by becoming the first South
Korean to grace a solo cover of US Vogue. She is currently a Global
Ambassador for Louis Vuitton and Adidas.
